I must admit that these days when I’m at an airshow, it takes a fair bit of will power to take an interest in the Red Checkers’ display – and there is inevitably one at every airshow in New Zealand.  I’ve seen them so many times it is just not that interesting any more.  The first such display I can remember seeing was the last one with the Harvards!

But often when they are arriving or departing, there are good close-up shots to be had and the shot above is one of my best, taken at Omaka last year.  Oddly, however, if you take a look at the “original” size on Flickr, I seem to have got the tail out of focus, but not the rest of the aircraft.  Hmmm.

Photographers’ maps page added

I’ve just added a page (see link on right) with a couple of maps I put together with the tools provided by Google Maps.  If you’re looking for tips on great locations for aircraft photography, check them out.  So far there are maps for Auckland and Wellington.

This is a shot I frequently attempt, but almost always ends up slightly off centre.  Today, I got it good.  :-)

I have also posted a few more shots of this beautiful bird – ZK-PBB.
