I have a week off work and had spent a few hours out at NZWN today. Nothing incredibly interesting showed up (more on that later) – until I got home!
Suspicions were aroused as I drove up the street and noticed the Helipro vehicle parked across the street. There had been a crane there earlier this morning which appeared to be related to a spa pool delivery.
This first pic is pretty much the sort I’d expected to get when I first learned of this:
However, a thoughtful safety chap not only directed me to a safe spot but a good vantage point and explained to me how the job would be done. Hence this shot. That’s my driveway on the left!
That’s one way to clear away the autumn leaves!!

Wow! Is the road especially narrow, or do your neighbours get their groceries delivered by chopper also??
It was all down to a simple equation. 30 tonne crane + concrete driveway = $10k+ to fix. Squirrel for half an hour = $850. $850 < $10k. The crane arrived earlier in the day and only then was the driveway assessed.
Wow. That’s still pretty amazing! Thanks for the details.
